The 'Catch 22' of Babson

by Sero on October 20, 2005

Babson students are caught in a catch 22 merely by coming here. they realize how unbelievably prepared they're going to be for college afterlife, as well as the business world. then they realize how miserable they are at a college that isn’t a college. it’s a $42,000 a year, cinderblock walled, exposed pipe, prison. Babson becomes like a class A drug: you love what it does for you, but you cant stop doing it, no matter how bad the withdrawal symptoms are.

Babson is evil. ask any Babson student if they actually like being here. ill bet my pancreas that they’ll say “no”. no one comes here for the riveting social scene, it’s the education. and on this point and this point alone that Babson has my praise: they know how to make a businessman.

But then, dare I ask why, do Babson students not like Babson? the answer is simple, and easily placed into business terms: great product, terrible service. I remember when I was a freshman, there was an unconfirmed rumor that Babson had the #8 least happiest campus in America. I say unconfirmed, because I never actually read that statistic anywhere, nor could I even begin to guess how one would measure such a statistic.

Why so unhappy if we're #1 in the field of what we teach?
